December 29 – December 31, 2012
Alex did most, okay all, of the planning for the trip. GOD BLESS HER. However, I really wanted to see George Town after reading The New York Times 36-hours in Penang post. The capital of an island off the western coast of Malaysia that is a UNESCO World Heritage site, has lively art scene, and known for some of the best food in the country, HELL YES, I need to see this place. So I convinced her to add it to our itinerary.
How did our three days go?
I loved it.
Alex hated it.
It’s not the beach – a far, far, far, far, far cry from Nai Harn – but I had finished Wild, ugly crying on the beach full of gorgeous Russians, and was ready for some exploring. I got googly-eyed over the funky street art, winding streets, colorful walls, CATS, intricate tiles, Chinese temples, Malaysian street food, and hole-in-the-wall bars of this city. It reminded me of a Southeast Asian Antigua, Guatemala.
I took the most pictures here, so there’s gotta be parts to George Town.
Let’s kick it off with cat pictures since I’m a cat (and dog) lady.
Next: More from George Town!

Lovely pictures and I love the cat like it hates the heat.
Great photos! I espcially like the bicycle pictures…there’s something romantic about bicycle riding in far away places
Cheers to you,
Courtney
Wonderful pictures!
