Good morning! I’m drinking coffee and watching the Olympics. Right now, the men’s road race is on television. I can’t believe Bradley Wiggins is racing in it after winning the Tour de France only, like, a week ago?! Before that, they had the women’s rowing on….I’m SO excited to be here.
I watched the Opening Ceremony last night – decked out in red, white, and blue. Did you love the Daniel Craig and Queen bit? With the helicopter?!
It was kind of hard to find a place to watch it initially. (We’re living in Camden Town…..it’s more alternative than sporty.) We wanted to watch it in a pub because we thought that would be more festive and fun and English. We finally found one with a screen. We scored seats, but as soon as it began, the crowds blocked our view. I’m not much for watching sports on television, but I get downright nutty about the Olympics. So we went back to our flats to watch the rest of it. The best part: there was a building in front of our balcony, but we could see the haze from the fireworks. Eeeeeee! Very cool.
And….I’m sick. I caught the cold that has been circulating the group. Major bummer.
And, and, and…….next Saturday, I’ll be on my way to Japan. HOPEFULLY. The amount of paperwork and preparation and flight logistics are scary, but I’m really trying to be positive about the process. My biggest hurdle is over. I had to Fed Ex my passport to the embassy in Boston as soon as I got to London in order to process my work visa for Japan, then I had to pay to have it shipped back to me in London. Um, scary much? Anyway, it’s back. I’m thrilled.
