Well, I totally forgot about my real meal challenge: how many meals can I make myself for myself this year. It’s May…..and this is number 7. There may have been more in there – I can’t remember – but they didn’t get photographed. Oh, that’s life.
In addition to my swimming class, my pottery class ended last week as well. SADNESS. However, I tend to do too many things all at once, so that I’m never actually good in any one of them. I also easily fall prey to distractions, for example, I can’t go to the pottery studio and be creative because there’s a new GAME OF THRONES episode to watch. Pfffft! So I didn’t make much in pottery class this spring – I’ll show you all the few finished pieces soon – but I did make a new terracotta bowl and cup. Fist pump!
Here’s my first meal in them: a quick yakisoba and green tea.
No recipe really. I cooked some soba noodles.
Mixed together a bit of soy sauce, mirin, and sesame oil.
Added the noodles to a bowl, then mixed in diced chicken, broccoli, egg, and the soy sauce mixture. Cooked it all in a hot pan (a wok would be ideal, but I don’t have one…yet) doused with some peanut oil, then finished with a sprinkling of toasted sesame seeds and more sesame oil.
Ever since I went to my first Japanese tea ceremony for work, which was years ago, I’ve been wanting to get my own Japanese matcha. I finally took myself down to Dobra Tea in Burlington and bought it. Double fist pump.
I just mixed a scoop with hot water and whisked until it’s frothy. So pretty! It’s also such a vibrant green, I can’t help but feel like it’s a superdrink. At least, better than me drinking Diet Coke……
Ariel view of my dinner.
Be back later tonight with Day 2 vacation recap!
