Sunday CSA.
1.29.12
Picked up my share from Rachel a few days late. Things were just too busy during the week to get it on Thursday, and this weekend flew by!
*very weird looking carrot.
*Jerusalem artichokes. Never had them before!
*ahhhhh, blueberries, my favorite!
*whole wheat pastry flour.
*one very curious kitten.
And the big question is what can I make with all that cabbage? (Not a fan of cole slaw.)

I’d make spring rolls with that cabbage.
Oh, that’s a great idea. I love spring rolls!
Potstickers! (http://www.eyeballingit.com/2010/04/potstickers.html)
Of course! How could I forget. Perfect.
I would go for spring rolls or Asian cole slaw, which is nothing like traditional cole slaw. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/ramen-coleslaw/
I personally used to HATE coleslaw. But a few years ago had some that was delicious! My aunt was the one who made it, and told me how. It is 1/2 sour cream, 1/2 sweet coleslaw dressing (I use Marzetti’s prepared), pepper, celery seed, and sunflower seeds. Apparently I didn’t like it before because it was too sweet and mushy. The sour cream cuts the flavor and makes a thicker sauce, and the sunflower seeds add an interesting texture and flavor into the mix. It’s worth a try!
you should make galumpkis (stuffed cabbage)
Oooh, that does sound good. I don’t eat cabbage that often – actually never made stuffed cabbage – so love the suggestions!
This is a great Senegalese stew that has lamb, cabbage, squash and loads of other veg in a tomatoey, peanutty sauce. I can attest to its greatness: http://leitesculinaria.com/68397/recipes-mafe-african-stew.html
Oh, wow. You had me at tomatoey, peanutty sauce. That sounds awesome. Thanks!
I know I am a little late on this but just in case you happen to get some cabbage again in the near future…here is an awesome recipe for the Best-Ever Chinese Chicken Salad (http://inherchucks.com/2012/01/22/best-ever-chinese-chicken-salad/)
And for the record…totally not a cole-slaw fan either
Still have cabbage left. Ha! Can’t wait to try it out. Thanks for the recipe!
My pleasure…let me know what you think
