I made a post-run smoothie because I finished an 11 mile run in the rain Saturday morning. Yay! I feel much more confident about the Leaf Peepers half-marathon this weekend.
Merlin wanted my smoothie and I was having none of that.
I’m baking something special {and complicated}! You’ll find out verysoon.
Sunday brunch at Four Aces with Tommy, Mindi, and Avery.
Mindi and I each got a breakfast sandwich and split a short stack of pancakes.
Tom got blueberry pancakes. These were just the fluffiest pancakes! I want the recipe.
When I got back to town, Jen texted me that she was grilling at her place.
Our first time using a charcoal grill!
Hours later….with food still not done. {Our coals cooled off too soon- must not have heated them properly the first time. Thank you You Tube!}
Jen took to playing the guitar and singing songs. {Fleetwood Mac & Lisa Loeb. Oh yes.}
We baked pumpkin chocolate chip cookies.
And made flatbread pizza.
Finally, though, we had grilled chicken, grilled sausage, grilled corn, and grilled vegetables. Yum! Can’t wait to do it again.

Hi, great pics, the cat looks thirsty !!!! and the smothie looks delicious, the pizza too.
We in Argentina have the same fire starters like yours, we start the fire with charcoal and a old news paper, and yes, sometimes the charcoal cool of before the meat is done!!!
I say again, great pics

Hi Guillermo! Thanks, and it’s good to know that others have had the same charcoal grill issues. It was sort of a comical night.
I’ve scanned afew of your blog entries.. really enjoyed your concise captions and step-by-step, picture-accompanied instructions! Cute cat. You’re a great photographer.

I’ve stumbled across your blog and love your pictures. I am very jealous of you doing the Leaf Peepers Half-marathon! It looks like a great race. Where I am, the leaves unfortunately don’t change colors. Love the flat bread pizza- it’s one of my favorite meals!
