Candy Corn Cupcakes
I feel like our society tends to skip over holidays these days. I was just in store that had their Christmas decorations out.
Um, isn’t this a bit soon?!
It’s not even Halloween yet, which got me wanting to make something very Halloweenesque.
My mom told me about this cute idea for festive candy corn cupcakes. {I think she got the idea from a Family Circle or Woman’s Day magazine.} I thought it was genius. They sounded adorable and easy to make.
I took a little study break to experiment with my own version of these candy corn cupcakes during the week. Easy peasy and cute to boot! I highly recommend making these for a festive Halloween weekend.
Instructions
I just made a basic vanilla cupcake batter. Then I divided the batter in two and added yellow food coloring to one bowl.
Red and yellow food coloring to make orange in another bowl.

I use these gel food colorings and you only need a tiny toothpick amount.
This was my first time using them to make orange…..it turned out rather neon.
Line your cupcake pan with liners and add a spoonful of yellow batter. Top with the orange.
I baked my mini-cupcakes at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Took them out of the pan to cool on a wire rack.
After they cooled, I frosted them with white cream cheese frosting. I just used a small circle tip.
Swirled the frosting around the top.
Aren’t these things cute? They turned out better than I could have imagined. I like how vibrant the yellow and orange came out after baking. {The red food coloring got the better of my fingers though. Watch the gels….they will stain.}
Yummy too.
